Jennifer and John contacted me and wanted to do a pre-wedding photoshoot so that they would have some photos to display on their wedding day. So three weeks before their wedding, we met up at Cranbrook Gardens in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and were able to get some nice portraits taken. Pre-wedding photoshoot is not as popular in the United States but it’s quite common in many Asian countries given that it can be quite hectic on the wedding day (many Asian weddings involve long ceremonies that can take up half a day – see the Vietnamese Tea Ceremony that I photograph a few years back here).

If you’ve never been to Cranbrook Gardens, it’s a must-visit! It’s a hidden gem in Michigan so not too many outside of the area know about it. The property is absolutely stunning and has so many features (like a Japanese garden, a reflecting pool, an herb garden and a sunken garden (the garden really is lower than the rest of the property).

Jennifer’s dress was absolutely amazing (which by the way was the not the same dress that she wore on her wedding day – so John was left wondering what the actual wedding dress looks like).

Strolling through the garden together… the grass is definitely greener in Michigan 🙂
