V & C’s Wedding

This was my very first time photographing a Vietnamese wedding so I was quite excited – especially the Vietnamese tea ceremony portion (where the bride and groom’s family exchange gifts and drink tea together).  The bride and her bridesmaids stayed at the Hyatt Hotel in Utica, Michigan so I met up with them early in the morning to capture them getting ready.  Since this was a November wedding in Michigan, it was quite cold.  The bride and bridesmaid all wore these really cute flannel shirts with their initials sewn on the pockets which I thought was such a great idea!

Prior to the tea ceremony, the grooms family lines up outside of the bride’s house with gifts and flowers:

The bride and groom also exchanges rings as part of the tea ceremony.

After the tea ceremony, the bride changed into a white wedding dress and did a quick first look.

We then took a party bus to Downtown Detroit.  

Our first stop was at the Detroit Public Library.

We then headed to Campus Martius in downtown Detroit where V had proposed to C.  I used to work in this exact building seven years ago so it was really nice going back there.  

Santa Clause just so happened to be there doing photos so of course we had to take one as well!

We then headed back to Club Venetian in Madison Heights to get ready for the reception.  The wedding decorations were so beautiful and festive.  The theme was red and gold and couldn’t have been more perfect for the holiday season.
