One of the best part of being a wedding photographer is I get to explore new places constantly and this one was definitely worth exploring.  Anosha and Kuldeep booked me for their 2019 wedding and came all the way down from Minnesota to meet me at the Washington State Park in Michigan City, Indiana.  I was flattered when Anosha said she chose me because of my photography style – she loved the whole dreamy, whimsical and fairy tale theme.  She had also mentioned that she saw my Marie Antoinette editorial shoot and was in love with the whole vintage glamour that I used to style the photo shoot.  I’m always ecstatic when my clients have the same taste in style!

When Anosha and Kuldeep stepped out of their cars, I seriously thought they were models.  I have some of the most attractive looking couples – lucky me!  Anosha told me all about how she and Kuldeep met and it sounded just like a love story out of a fairy tale book.  I love hearing how my couples met and how the whole proposal went down.

 

I did some research and found this lovely castle at the Washing State Park Zoo.  From looking at the pictures online, I knew it would be the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos.  What I didn’t realize was that the zoo was right next to Lake Michigan! Oh my goodness!  I went an hour early (not realizing that Michigan City was on a different time zone).  Since it was quite early, there were hardly any people and I spent a whole hour by myself sitting on the beach just watching the waves and digging my feet into the cool sand.  I cannot remember the last time I had such a relaxing time by myself (note: I have 3 children all under the age of ten so I don’t get a lot of time to just relax!).  I was perfectly content sitting there by myself… you know just thinking about everything and nothing all at the same time.

Within the zoo, we walked to the very top to the overlook area and was able to see  Lake Michigan from there.  The view was just breathtakingly beautiful… I have to admit that the older I get, the more I appreciate living in Michigan.  Not only do we have the most beautiful clear lakes, we also have some of the best views.  A good friend of mine used to make fun of how I live in the boonies but honestly, I love the fact that I can enjoy mother nature right in my backyard (or very close to it)!

I had such great time exploring a new city and meeting Anosha and Kuldeep and can’t wait to photograph their wedding next year!
