If it’s not apparent by now, the grass is definitely greener in Michigan!   We get tons of greenery in the summertime and it’s everywhere you look.  Rather than avoid it, I’ve learned to embrace it!  Just look at all the lush greens in the photos below:

Geena and Daniel booked me for their wedding next summer and I had the honor of meeting them a few weeks ago to do their engagement session.  It had drizzled on and off all day but we decided to do it and luckily there was no rain during the session!  We met up at Frances Park in Lansing, Michigan and Geena and Daniel walked through the gardens while I photographed them.

One of my absolute favorite things to do while photographing my couples is doing detail shots; for example, having Geena touch the flowers with her ring in focus…  these intimate shots combined with natural movements is what brings the photos to life and I try to get these type of shots in every session that I do (if time permits).

My favorite spot at Frances Park is this overlook area where you can see the river and some of the city.  It’s quite peaceful being up here.

This is probably my favorite photo from the entire session… the trees framed their bodies perfectly – as if they were meant to be in this exact spot.  I promise – there weren’t any photoshopping done here at all.

I can’t wait to photograph their wedding next year!  Geena described her color scheme and overall wedding theme and it all sounds so lovely.
