Holland, MI engagement session

Holland, Michigan is famous for their annual tulip festival which takes place every spring.  I’ve always known about it but have never visited the city during the festival so when Mimi contacted me asking to have her engagement session in Holland, I was pretty excited about it.  I actually didn’t know what to expect (besides seeing a lot tulips) so when I arrived at Windmill Island Garden, I was surprised to see a charming little village.  There was a carousel with lots of excited children waiting in line, a garden area full of colorful tulips, a large windmill where guests can walk up and tour, some gift shops and a LOT of people.

Mimi wanted the windmill to be in the background for her engagement photos so we got right into the tulip field and used the windmill as our backdrop.  I loved that she wore a red dress which really stood out in the field.

As the sun started to set, we were able to get some nice ring shots.

I typically don’t edit my photos with black/white or sepia tones but Mimi wanted some vintage ones for her wedding:

I had a lot of fun during the engagement shoot and it was really nice getting know both Mimi and Joe.  That’s probably what I enjoy the most – getting to know my couples and hear their love story…
