Follow along as I document real love stories and share a glimpse of how I see the world through the lens of my camera.
Summer is coming to an end soon and I’m just now catching up on blogging my weddings from the past few months. This summer, I had the honor of going to northern Michigan to photograph Maddy and James’ wedding at Sojourn Lakeside Resort, a hidden gem here in Michigan. We had the best weather ever with a breathtakingly beautiful view of the lake behind the ceremony. This is what I call “pure Michigan” (our state’s motto). My assistant and I arrived early in the morning and I was able to take a mini tour of the resort before the guests arrived.
Everything was held at the resort (from getting ready, family portraits, ceremony and reception) so it was less hectic than usual as there were no driving around. The ladies got ready at the resort’s welcome center while the guys got ready in their cabins. The resort was quite massive but it had all the amenities you’d ever want from a getaway wedding (a private beach, paddle boards, canoeing, individual cabins and an outdoor swimming pool). The entire resort was reserved for the couple, their families and guests so we essentially had the entire resort to ourselves!
I mentioned this in one of my earlier posts but I’ve been seeing a lot of neutral bridesmaids dress trending this year and I absolutely love it! I think it’s timeless and elegant.

During the cocktail hour, the entire bridal party got on the boat to celebrate and they invited me along. Of course I couldn’t say no 🙂

During the reception, we snuck out for more photos of Maddy and James by the water:
This was definitely one of the most memorable weddings to date and I had such a great experience up north with Maddy and James!
